Final Essay

This class was one of my favorite classes I took this semester because I never learned about symbols and other different archetypes. I learned what was my archetype and I was shock that I was an orphan archetype. In class I learned a lot about the orphan archetype and how they are kind people and trust people, which is some what me. I also read the book Coraline which was a great book and it relate some what to the movie we saw in class called Spirited Away. Both Coraline and Spirited Away had a lot of similarity's in which they lived in a fantasy world. Archetypes can show a person what talent they have and never be scared to take risk's in life. My archetype helps to deliver my views of this world to others and helps me realize creativity and effectiveness about myself and other people.

I also learned about the poem Macbeth which was kinda boring to me because I'm not into fiction poems. But I did like the symbols in the movie which was some what interesting at the end of the poem. Another thing that was cool was that people who acted out the play from the movie was cursed by the witches and the cast would die from weird actions. This class taught me a lot about supernatural and what other people's thought's was. Most of the class seemed interested like me and it was a awesome semester.

My favorite project from my classmates was by the Lost Boys. They all was active in their project and it seemed hard to shoot the short film. I liked how they shot from different parts in New York City and it reminded me of resident evil. There was a lot of zombies and they were going around killing them. They spent a lot of time doing the whole film because they had to time all the killings and the noise to go with the shots fired. I was always into zombies as a kid growing up because they were scary and I loved the game resident evil. The whole group did a great job and it was interesting watching their project because it wasn't a easy task to do.

Final Project

Emir Muminovic
December 7, 2010
ENG 102
Project
                                                               Misunderstood Killer
My project is about the movie Friday the 13th starring Jason Voorhees who is really a
misunderstood person because of his rough childhood just like how I'm as well. When I was
writing this project I learned that I and Jason Voorhees have a lot of things in common. When
Jason Voorhees was a young kid he really cared about his mother and so did I because she was
my mother was always there for me when I had a problem. Growing up in Crystal Lake Jason
Voorhees guarded his turf and he didn't like others coming to Crystal Lake. I'm also the same
way because I don't like when people talk bad about my family or close friends. If people
started talking negative about my family or close friends in front of me I would tell them in their
face if they continue talking bad then they are going to deal with me. When Jason Voorhees
mother got killed Jason didn't care about nothing so he wanted to get revenge on anyone that
came across him. If someone does something to me that is very hurtful or disrespectful I always
find a way to get that person back because I was brought up that way.

Friday the 13th has become an American horror franchise with its protagonist/slasher
Jason Voorhees. The original  Friday  the  13th  was  debuted  in  1980,  following  the  story  of
Jason  Voorhees   drowning  as  a  young  boy  due  to  unattended  counselor,  and   Mrs.
Voorhees   seeking  revenge  in  killing  all  the  counselors  but  eventually  ends  up  being
beheaded herself.  Later  the  franchise  becomes  as  we  know  today,  as  Jason  resurrects
and  guards  Crystal  Lake  to  all  those  who  intrudes  it.  In the 2009 thriller the director
Marcus  Nispel  recreates  the  movie  with  a  new  storyline,  but  still  in  the  same  concept
of revenge  and  revival.  In the 2009 installation, Jason witness his mother being
beheaded in  front  of  him  growing  up  with  a  vengeful  spirit  he  returns  as  an  adult  to
Crystal  lake  to  guard  it  from  anyone  who  dare  goes  in  the  camp.  In any movie the
same  storyline  since  1980,  the  movie  all  correlate  with  Jason  having  strong  connection
with his  mother  and  his  mother  towards  him.  In each movie its Jason killing in revenge
for  his  mother  or  Mrs. Voorhees  killing  in  her  son’s  memory.  In way I can relate with
the  Friday  the  13th  syndicate,  willing  to  do  anything  for  a  love  one.  I also hold my
mom  close  to  my  heart  and  if  I  get  put  in  a  certain  situation  I  would  kill  for  her.  My
mom  has  always  been  there  for  me  in  any  aspect  of  life,  I  grew  up  at  a  young  age
without  a  father  so  I do  hold  my  mom  close  to  me.    In the franchise Jason acts out
killing  everyone  who enters  Crystal  Lake,  probably   because  that  is  where  long  after  his
mother’s  death  that land  in  a  reminder  of  her  to  him.  Also, as in prior movies such as
the  1980’s  Friday the  13th,  Jason  is  killed  by  a  couple  of  careless  camp  counselors and
drowned to his death at crystal lake. Luckily for me I did not drown, but when I was younger I
went on vacation, I also was drowning like Jason but my mom saved me and saved my life. I can
relate with Jason and Mrs. Voorhees on their willingness to do anything for a love one.

As in Friday the 13th directed by Marcus Nispel, Jason had a tough childhood, watching his
mother being beheaded in front of him. I cannot relate with him on those terms that I never
seen someone get their heads chopped off, but I also experience a tough times growing up. My
childhood was far from where I am in life today, growing up in Brooklyn I was always around
gangs and drug and bad influences at a young age. I dealt with a lot of fighting in my middle
school growing up and getting exploded from school. What I experienced at such a young age is
hard to believe, but that was all I knew, changing school was nothing strange to me. I used to
hang out with older kids so I got expose to harsh situations, fighting, drugs and gangs was a way
of life. Jason's situation scared him for life and made him a crazed slasher, but I on the other
hand learned and eventually wanted something better for myself. Another aspect I can relate
to the killer Jason is that I guard what are mines and those around me. I am extremely
territorial with is my property and have a hard time letting go to what is mines. Also towards
my loves, I know I will protected and do anything for them. Like my mom, I am extremely over
protective over her and also my niece; I treat her like she is my daughter. I don't trust people
with anything that is my property, or even touching things in my room, I have a hard time
trusting things to people, I don't lend noting out, I have a really tough time with what is mine
property. This aspect of me comes from not being able to trust a person that comes from my
childhood so I don't trust people easily with anything. As Jason who kills everyone who comes
into Crystal Lake. I wouldn't kill anybody for coming into my room like Jason has in all his
movies, but I can relate on terms of what I claim is mines nobody can't touch or intrude. Jason
reason for killing so many hormonal teenagers and camp counselors over the years is that he
sees Crystal Lake as his or his mother final resting place, depending what movie you seen. Jason
doesn't like anybody disturbing it because it is their final resting spot.

When Jason Voorhees got pushed into the Crystal Lake by his classmates on a field trip and
he drowned Jason whole life changed. When Jason Voorhees came back to life after drowning
his whole mind state of life changed because he didn't trust anyone and wanted revenge. So when
random teenagers would hear about the story about Jason drowning and that he might still be
hunting people in Crystal Lake they would go camping to Crystal Lake just to see if the story
was true. Whoever came to Crystal Lake Jason would kill them each and people would worry
what has happened to them because they have been missing for a long time. While I was growing
up I was taught not to trust anyone because people would be nice just to turn their back on you
and talk negativity against me. There was one time when one of my close friends spread my
personal information to other people I didn't like and I got extremely mad at him where I end up
fighting with him. After that day I choice not to express myself to people and I would keep to
myself and handle my own problems. I couldn't kill my close friend cause of revenge like Jason
did with all the teenagers visiting Crystal Lake and losing their life. That would never cross my
mind because I know what consequence i would receive from the law and i wouldn't want to lose
my freedom because of nonsense. But I do understand why Jason killed all the people who have
went to Crystal Lake because he lost his life there and his mother lost her life as well. So, he
didn't care about other people’s life because he just went about his business by killing until
someone could stop him. In my case I controlled myself and handled it different from Jason and
it paid off for the better because now I learned from the situation where it made me the person
I'm now.

Whiling writing this project about the movie Friday The 13th I learned that Jason
Voorhees wasn't just a killer but people didn't understand what he had gone through growing up.
When Jason Voorhees was a young kid he loved his mother a lot and would do anything for her
but once his mother was behead Jason didn't care about nobodies life. Also whoever came to
Crystal Lake where his mother got killed he would kill them one by one until nobody was alive.
That was a way Jason would feel better from what had happened to his mother and that's how he
would get his revenge for what happened to his mother. I enjoyed writing this paper on this
movie Friday The 13th because I'm a fan of horror movies as well a fan of all Friday The 13th
movies. Every time I watch Friday The 13th it never gets boring to me and can watch it over
and over again.

4.1 : Update

I'am almost done with my project dealing with Friday The 13th. I had to prepare all the notes I took from watching most of the Friday The 13th movies and what Jason went threw growing up. Also doing some research on the movie I got a lot of information I need on why his mother got killed and why Jason kills people. I have plan a to explain why Jason and me are some similar and different. Also to explain the back around behind Jason and a tough childhood he had just like I did as well.

I'm on my last page on finishing up my essay and I also need to find a youtube to show my peers who he is. That would complete my project and hopefully I will be ready to present tomorrow in class.

3.4 : My Project

I will be writing about the movie Friday The 13th and the similaries and difference between me and Jason. I watched some clips from the movies from the past and to the newest movie that came out in 2009. I have to break down Jason's lifestyle from his childhood and why he does kill people who come to Crystal Lake. There is tough challenges I will face doing this project like doing a lot of research and comparing my life to Jason.

Blog Entry 3.3

For my project I will be writing about a movie called friday the 13th. The reason why I choice this movie is because when Jason was growing up he had a tough childhood like I did. Even the kids his age didn't want to be his friends so they would pick on him. So one day his classmates went on a trip to Crystal Lake where his classmates pushed him into the lake where he died at because he couldn't swim. When Jason came back to life he disliked everyone and started killing people whoever came to Crystal Lake. Regular people didn't believe the stories other people talked about until they went to the lake where Jason would be and would kill the people one by one. The plot of the story I will write about is about Jason's childhood and the results that happened when he came back to life. I might also compare his childhood into mines because there are some things me and Jason have in common growing up. Not killing people lol! So feel free to leave me some comments on my blog, I know it will help me out. Thank you.

3.2 Macbeth Video

Macbeth drinks the spelled water from the witches which he lost control of himself and he didn't know what he was doing. The witches put a curse on Macbeth when he was looking into the water and he said Macbeth third times. Later on Macbeth had a little son who become just like his father Macbeth where they said no shavel harm Macbeth. Everytime Macbeth looked in the mirror there was different people in the mirror looking just like him and that was cause by the curse by witches.

3.1 Macbeth

I like this picture of Macbeth because it shows to me how women are dangerous and how women can turn there back on you. The reason why I choose this picture was how men can let the women take over and destory them as a person. In this picture shows how women are strong as men and can battle as much as a men could in a war and that they can't be taken lightly. This picture shows a lot of my archetype Innocent because it shows men can trust a women and then get stapped in our backs. Also in this picture this man shows that he is sad and doesn't want to get hurt but she still does it anyways. Some women tend to hurt men because of their past or that's there habits. It shows me how some women are cold hearted and don't care about a man's feelings. As a Innocent archetype this picture shows me that men can open up to anyone and then get hurt in the long run, without getting to know the real person. In the picture it show's a women using a knife to kill a sad man but I can relate that to a women who want's to ruin his life over a situation. The knife the women is using can show that she hates the men or she's going to harm him bad. However, this picture can also prove that when are men down and out women would do anything to bring them down and won't support them. The men show's that he can't do anything to prove himself to the women all he can do is put his hands up and hope she dont stab him. It seems like the only way she can get revenge on is by harming the guy even dough he doesn't want to harm her. It show's to me that the men really cares for the lady and probably loves her a lot. He has a lot of innocent archetype in him where he show's a lot of careness and is willing to take the pain. That's one of the bad traits of a innocent person because we give it our all and we don't get it back from people we care about.

BLOG 2.2 Archetype Innocent

My archetype is Innocent. We all start out our journey as innocents, with trust, faith and optimism. We believe our needs will be taken care of, that people are basically good, and the future is bright. It is wonderful for children to feel this way, and as children, hopefully you did have the experience of feeling safe and secure. Being Innocent really does compare to me because I do care about trust, faith, and optimism. Trust is very important to me because I'am a loyal and I hate fake people. Also being innocent gives us incredible energy and optimism. But when we start out the journey we do not see people or situations with clear eyes. We see them how we want to see them, and we circle through this over and over with many different people and situations. An example from my own life is whenever I start with a new mentor, I always trust them completely, think they are so smart and seek their advise often. But then, they show their "humanness" and I feel let down. They get angry, give wrong advise, have big egos, etc. And then I no longer look up to them the same way. Or in the beginning of a relationship, we trust our partner and believe they will never let us down, until they do!

2.1 Globin Market

In Goblin Market Christina Rossetti writes about Lizzie and Laura whom in which they live alone in poverty. The goblin market is filling with men who usually try to convince women to buy their forbidden fruits. They would call out to women who passed by to come buy their fruits. Lizzie would often warned her sister Laura that the goblin men are evil; the fruits they sell are forbidden. But men being goblins where the goblins try to sell the fruits to people who want to buy. In the beginning of the story Laura passes by the goblin men, somehow, was manipulated and persuaded in to buying their fruit. Subdued by the goblin men, Laura was unable pay for the fruit because she had no money, so, instead she took a lock of her beautiful hair. The next day Lauren becomes obsessed with the fruits she tasted the day before and goes to the goblins market where she finds, unlike her sister that she no longer can hear them. Once Laura couldn't get no more forbidden fruits she wasn't feeling the same, Laura didn't work as much around the house so that lend her to depression. So Lizzie saw Laura really not feeling good and Laura looked like she was going to die so Lizzie went to the town where the goblins to buy fruits for Laura. But the goblins didn't want her to take the fruits back home with her they wanted Lizzie to eat the fruits right there in front of the goblins. When Lizzie said no and the goblins was forcing her to eat the fruits but she fought the goblins until they stop and the goblins didn't stop after a long fight. But Laura drank the juice off Lizzie and slowly transformed into a newly woman. At the end both sisters lived and changed Laura got to tell her story to her children.

This story is trying to show us how addiction happens everywhere in this world and we need to be careful with what we get addicted to. It was basically telling us that the goblins were the men who can't live without having sex with girls and looking at there body parts and were women tend to fall for goblins who use them for sex. So this poem was really interesting because I think this really happens in our life time now where men and women use other people and it don't stop until they grow up. Also I am assuming they were abandon or runner ways at that time whom in which they lived among prostitutes, pimps and drug dealers. One sister is innocent while the other one is into a life of hell. So basically it's about one sister who try's to save her sister from evil and redeemed her sister soul back. Christina was trying to tell us there will be bums in the road like drugs, sex, and death. So it depends on who will give up and who will overcome those hard situations to live a healthy lifestyle. Those habits really do happen in our life time so Christina really has a strong case about what's going on in our lives. I hope people learned from this poem and it can change men and women mind state on sex and respect both genders.

1.3

The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls
THE tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveller hastens toward the town
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Darkness settles on the roofs and walls
But the sea, the sea in darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveller to the shore,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1880)

The reason why I choice this poem is because it's very interesting and it really makes you think about the sea. Also this poem is different because it talks about how water comes and goes but it's always the same wave. It just shows that whatever you do things will always come and go in life and we got to live with our choices. I guess the tides show people things might be good and things might be bad and we as people got to live threw the good and the bad. I learned from this poem that there will be times when you make new footprints and you got to be ready to handle both the good and not so good problems. This poem also states that people need to learn how to handle there own situations in life and grow on there mistakes and don't let the situation break you down. Even when you feel the worst never give up and give your 100% because that's the only way you can overcome the situation. In life nothing is easy you have to work hard to get anything you want and sometimes you don't achieve everything you want so that's when you push yourself harder.

In my opinion this poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was trying to tell people that you can't take anything for
granted and take it day by day. Everyday is a new day and each day you can achieve something you didn't from yerserday or even the day before. In (Line 11-13) Longfellow states that things won't change overnight and things will be the same until you accomplish what your goal was. Also each day will be up or down and you have to be ready to handle what will be thrown your way in life if not then you going to break down. But to me that's life because there will always be good times and bad times but that's when you have to be ready to overcome the situation. In the story where Longfellow talks about (Line 2-7) having darkness in the town and darkness settles on the roof and the walls. To me Longfellow trys to tell us that things won't get better if you trying to ingore your problems by moving somewhere all you doing is making it harder on yourself. You just got to face the situation and face it. I do agree with Longfellow because people tend to run away from there situation and it still continues to bother them in there new place where they move to.

1.2 Spider Man

I think Spider man is super natural because he has talent no one has like flying with using webs. Also Spider man is different because he knows when someone is in trouble he comes to save the inccent people. Even when Spider man is hurt he can heel on his own and take down the competition against him. In the movie Spider man didn't know right away that he was super natural until he felt sick but it was him turning into Spider man. When Spider man found that he was bit by a spider he didn't realize that he will be strong and fight other super natural people like Gobbin. But once Spider man knew he can do all super natural things like lift objects and fight off criminals off to make it safe for people to live. I think Spider man is super natural because not everyone could lift objects and use webs from his hand to fight criminals. Also Spider man does things that someone could only dream about like flying and fighting criminals when your injured. That makes Spider man very different from other people because Peter can still be himself and you won't even know that Peter would be Spider man.
